Another Cardello Architects project in Noroton Bay, this house was in a flood zone that required lifting the structure over 3 feet. The project began with a very simple Cape-style home which is typical of the era – a collage of unattractive shed roofs that expanded the second floor plan. We did not change the footprint too much and concentrated on exterior changes that provide the charm it now has. We call this Darien gem ‘The Little House That Could’ because of its four spacious bedrooms, three baths, and laundry all sat on the second floor of the 2,800 s.f. house.
