An award winning new home built in the Noroton Bay area of Darien CT, this small, coastal community consists of waterfront properties approximately 80 X 100 feet. Navigating the neighborhood via golf carts, the residents of the Bay area enjoy private beach access and spectacular waterfront views. In addition to summer and weekend inhabitants from New York City, this close knit community provides a friendly environment for full time residents with activities such as their annual Halloween celebration. The homeowners expressed their desire for modern components and interesting spaces, and were eager to develop a well thought out plan for the overall project. We provided them with a custom architectural design that maximizes the space available on their particular lot. Through the use of traditional proportion and detail, we were able to develop a plan that was both functional and artistically appealing for this young family. Certain subtle surprises await you as you navigate the home: the outdoor shower, the exterior trim details (which are slightly above proportion), the interior railings, coffered ceilings, barrel vault ceilings, the corner glass window, and the use of stone on the chimneys. This house earned Robert A. Cardello Architects a nomination for an A-List Award in the category of “Traditional Architecture under 7000 sf”.
