Located in the quaint community of Noroton Bay in Darien CT, the original house and property went through a minor renovation with the new owners only to later be destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. It was time to start from scratch. The new plan raised the house to elevation 14, complying with the updated FEMA regulations and affording the owners the peace of mind that their new home could properly weather a storm. Sitting on a small rounded corner lot, the house is shaped and positioned to respond to the surrounding property. Natural stone steps and terraces ease the structure out of the yard, minimizing the 3-story height. The large tower houses a comfortable den on the first-floor and a “gentleman’s library” above. Features like an outdoor fireplace and shower suit this beachfront community perfectly. Water views are captured from the dormered third-floor space.
