Cardello Architects has enjoyed a long working relationship with PG Properties in Darien, CT, developing a variety of projects. During the early years, Cardello was asked to design a community fountain - a focal point joining a collage of commercial buildings that shared a courtyard in the heart of downtown. Decades later, local shoppers still gather around this elegant structure, which features cast limestone, custom bronze work, a fire element, and year-round circulating water.

In 2008, we embarked on another PG project in Darien. This commercial building needed a strong brow to stand out on the busy Post Road, visible to both north and southbound travelers. Highway traffic meets this attractive building head-on when exiting the ramp, so it needed to be welcoming and representative of the town culture. Its unusual shape and roofline addresses the approach mentioned above and is a complement to the high level of finish found inside and out.
