Located on a one-acre property overlooking Five Mile River in Darien, CT, this project began with the demolition of the existing structure. Our goal was to create a home that maximized views of the water and boating activity in the area. We incorporated the exposed stone ledge on site to create a natural-looking scale from the front, while the mass of the building from the back blends into the landscape from the water side.

The design follows the natural grades out front to create a human scale, while the view out the mouth of the river sets the axis of the home. With a focus on strong outdoor living, the 11,000 s.f. house features modern, seamless rooms with an open floor plan and detailed finishings in the kitchen, family room, living room, and library, all with attention to the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.
