The addition of auxiliary structures can truly elevate a property into a full-fledged destination. In this particular case, the property owner opted for a party barn and boathouse to entertain their guests. The boathouse has stood on the property for over a hundred years, and the client wanted to maintain its original charm while adding modern amenities. The party barn, on the other hand, was designed from scratch with a classic stone exterior, expansive ceiling heights, and full windows offering unobstructed views of the river.
The project was complex, with several iterations needed to finalize the design of the party barn. However, the end result was worth it. The party barn and boathouse complement each other perfectly, with the modern and sleek look of the boathouse achieved through the process of "Shou Sugi Ban," which involves charring wood. The glass bridge connecting the two structures creates a magical walkway for guests, allowing them to appreciate the beauty of the river while moving between the two buildings.
These structures have truly transformed the property into a destination, allowing the owner to host memorable events and gatherings. The party barn and boathouse blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings, creating a memorable experience for all who visit.
